Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

VolCal is a relocation inventory and volume-estimating service operated by VolCal LLC, a New Jersey limited liability company.

2. Information VolCal handles

You may enter survey names, household-item names, rooms or locations, Going/Maybe/Not Going selections, quantities, cubic-foot values, notes, and a pounds-per-cubic-foot ratio. Please do not enter Social Security numbers, payment-card details, bank information, medical information, or other highly sensitive personal data in survey names or notes.

You do not need an account to use the calculator. When you use VolCal as a guest, the current survey and any named surveys you choose to save are stored locally in that browser on that device. Local surveys can remain available after a refresh or closed session, but they are not synchronized to another browser or device.

3. Optional account information

If you choose “Sign in with ChatGPT,” OpenAI may provide VolCal with a stable account identifier, your email address, and an optional display name. VolCal does not receive or store your ChatGPT password. Saved surveys are associated with that account identifier in VolCal’s hosted database so they can be reopened while you are signed in.

4. How information is used

VolCal uses your entries to perform calculations, display and export inventories, save surveys you request to save, operate the service, respond to support requests, prevent abuse, and maintain security. Volume and weight calculations are performed from the values and ratio shown in the calculator.

5. Service providers and sharing

Hosting, database, and sign-in providers may process technical information such as IP address, browser type, request logs, cookies required for sign-in, and security events. VolCal may also disclose information when required by law, to protect rights or safety, or in connection with a business transfer. VolCal does not currently sell personal information or use third-party advertising trackers.

6. Retention and your choices

Guest surveys are not intentionally stored on VolCal’s servers. They remain in the browser until you delete the local record, clear VolCal site data, clear browser data, or the browser removes it; private-browsing sessions may remove local surveys sooner. Signed-in surveys remain available until you delete them, close the applicable account, or they must be removed for operational, security, or legal reasons. You can delete individual saved surveys from the account panel. To request access, correction, or deletion that cannot be completed in the app, use the contact information in section 10 from the address associated with your account.

7. Security

VolCal uses reasonable administrative and technical safeguards designed to protect saved information. No internet service or storage system can guarantee absolute security, so retain your own copy of any inventory you need by using the export or print features.

8. Children’s privacy

VolCal is not directed to children under 13, and VolCal does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has submitted personal information, contact us so we can review and remove it where appropriate.

9. External services

VolCal may link to MorCal, a separate mortgage-planning service operated by Key Bases LLC, and to other third-party services. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies. Leaving VolCal through an external link does not transfer your VolCal survey to that service unless clearly stated.

10. Changes and contact

This policy may be updated as VolCal changes. Material updates will be reflected by a new effective date on this page. Questions may be sent to volcal95@gmail.com.
